Privacy Policy
Emergency Tradie operates an emergency tradie dispatch service across the Adelaide metropolitan area. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
1. What we collect
When you use Emergency Tradie we may collect the following:
- Your phone number and suburb, provided when you call or submit an enquiry
- A recording of your call from the point you are connected to a tradesperson
- Any information you volunteer during the call (address, job description, access details)
- Device and browser data if you use our website (IP address, page visits)
We do not collect payment information, email addresses, or government identifiers unless you voluntarily provide them.
2. Call recording
Calls are only recorded from the moment you are connected to a tradesperson. No recording takes place while you are on hold. Before connection you will hear: "This call will be recorded for quality assurance and training purposes." Staying on the line constitutes consent to recording.
All call recordings are deleted automatically after 30 days. Recordings are used solely for quality assurance, dispute resolution, and tradie performance assessment. They are not sold, shared with third parties, or used for marketing.
Our recording practices comply with the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979 (Cth) and the Listening and Surveillance Devices Act 1972 (SA).
3. How we use your information
- To dispatch an available tradesperson to your location
- To assess call quality and tradie performance
- To resolve disputes between customers and tradies
- To improve our dispatch service
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not use your personal information for direct marketing without your explicit consent.
4. Disclosure to third parties
We disclose your information only to the tradesperson we connect you with, and only to the extent necessary to complete your job (suburb, trade required, contact number). We do not sell or rent personal information to any third party.
We may disclose information to government or law enforcement agencies where required by law.
5. Data retention
- Call recordings: deleted after 30 days
- Dispatch logs (suburb, trade type, timestamp): retained for 12 months for service improvement
- Tradie records: retained for the duration of the tradie's engagement plus 7 years
6. Security
Call recordings and dispatch data are stored on access-controlled systems. Only authorised Emergency Tradie personnel can access recordings, and access is logged. We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to prevent unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure.
7. Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles you have the right to access personal information we hold about you, and to request correction of inaccurate information. To make a request contact us at support@emergencytradie.com.au. We will respond within 30 days.
If you believe we have handled your information in breach of the Privacy Act you may also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
8. Cookies and website analytics
Our website uses no third-party advertising or tracking cookies. We may use basic analytics (page views, suburb search queries) to understand which suburbs have the most demand. This data is aggregated and not linked to individuals.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted with an updated effective date at the top of this page.
