Compliance
Emergency Tradie operates a verified emergency tradie dispatch network. Every tradesperson on the network must meet specific licensing, insurance, and conduct requirements before they can receive a single dispatch. This page explains those requirements and the regulatory framework we operate under.
Tradie entry requirements
Every tradie on the Emergency Tradie network must hold and maintain the following before activation:
Licence numbers, insurer details, policy numbers, and expiry dates are collected at onboarding and are subject to periodic re-verification. A tradie whose licence lapses or insurance expires is suspended from dispatch immediately.
SA plumbing licence — CBS SA
Plumbing work in South Australia is regulated by Consumer and Business Services SA (CBS SA) under the Plumbers, Gas Fitters and Electricians Act 1995. Every plumber on the Emergency Tradie network holds a current, valid licence issued by CBS SA. Licence class and number are recorded at onboarding.
Members of the public can verify a plumber's licence independently at cbos.sa.gov.au.
Call recording compliance
Recording begins only when the customer is connected to a tradesperson — never during hold. The customer hears a verbal notification before connection. Tradies are informed of recording at onboarding. All recordings are deleted after 30 days.
Our call recording practices comply with:
- Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979 (Cth) — recording with the knowledge of parties
- Listening and Surveillance Devices Act 1972 (SA) — verbal notification satisfies consent requirements
- Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles — data minimisation and 30-day deletion
How the dispatch call works
Tradie conduct standards
Tradies on the network agree at onboarding to:
- Respond promptly to dispatches within their nominated area
- Maintain current licences and insurance for the duration of their engagement
- Conduct themselves professionally on recorded calls
- Provide accurate quotes and not engage in price gouging on emergency jobs
- Notify Emergency Tradie immediately of any licence suspension, insurance lapse, or regulatory action
Tradies found to be in breach of these standards are removed from the dispatch network. Serious breaches may be referred to CBS SA or the relevant regulatory authority.
